Spend a weekend exploring the secrets of English language in use.

This workshop is designed to give learners of English the autonomy they need and which is their ultimate goal in language learning. The more you use the dictionary the more you will learn.

Take this opportunity to deepen your dictionary skills at the same time as you deepen your language skills. How about a Dictionary Skills workshop in which you will learn to

o find words quickly
o use grammatical information
o find and explore meanings
o learn which words are used together
o choose the right word for the context

You’ll learn which words are formal, humourous, impolite, informal, literary, offensive, old-fashioned, spoken (i.e. used more in speech than in writing), very formal and very informal.
Are you curious to know which words are among the 2500 most common words in English?
In the dictionary upon which the workshop is based, you’ll even learn to recognize the 7500 most commonly used words in the English language.

Explanations and examples are given to consolidate what you’ve learned and provide an important new resource to your learning.
